Spent many weeks testing it. While it appears to be very similar to the v, there are important differences, the most significant of which is DUAL IS , which is r superior to the standard OIS in v or even the DUAL IS if you upgrade to firmware .. If you are a video maker, it will be worth the extra cost for that silization during both stills and video shooting. This is why you would purchase this lens. See Youtube for my GH IBIS tests. Most other aspects appear to be very similar to v, v is a touch wider, v still shows significant lens flare I wouldnt recommend it for sunset shooting, I think the Olympus . is better.

POWER Optical Image Silizer minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting, and also supports the Dual I.S. function for increased silization performance.

The s from stills are really sharp. Decent bokeh. Lens feels well made and quality parts. Supports dual IS , which is highly recommended for handheld use.

I use this lens for video mostly. I love its low weight and hight optical quality. It has focus by wire, which many people seem to dislike. But I paired with a GH camera, and do most of my focusing through the touch screen, which imo, is a superb feature. In low light I do it manually, but the focus by wire hasnt been a nuisance so r.

Rounded sevenblade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

I shot with the original mm/f. zoom on my Panasonic camera since it first came out. I have several prime lenses that I use, but the is the one youd most likely find on my camera at any given time. I have always been impressed with the versatility and quality of the original lens. Ive finally upgraded to version II because I now have a Panasonic camera body that can use the dual silization. I have yet to find a reason to change my high opinion of this lens.

Bright constant f/. maximum aperture maintains consistent performance throughout the zoom range.

Great lens and quality, but looks and feels cheap

I only have one complain about this lens. It has nothing to do with quality, sharpness or anything but simply build. For a , lens, it just feels cheap. It feels like a kit lens that comes on a Canon Ti. Honestly, it doesnt feel much different than a standard Canon kit lens, and thats a bummer. For a lens of this price, it should feel better. It should look more professional, and feel more professional. It feels cheap and plastic which is not what I was hoping for. Its for my first Panasonic lens so maybe they all feel this way, but its a bummer. Im used to Sony Zeiss metal lenses, and Canon L lenses which are super well made and look y. This lens, not so much.

Nano Suce Coating has been applied to inidual elements to reduce flare and ghosting for improved contrast and neutrality.

This is a great standard range zoom for M. Reasonably st and quite sharp. Ive found it to be quite adept at getting high quality s for video and stills. And the silization works great in conjunction with the GHs inbody silizer. The focus by wire design isnt perfect for every video scenario. But if you dont normally require mechanical focusing, this a great lens for most situations.

Splash, dust, and freezeproof design benefits working in inclement weather conditions.

mm Lens Cap for LUMIX G X VARIO mm f/.

Everything you read about this lens and its mm f. companion are true. Very sharp focus, excellent lens. This one was my first lens purchase for my new GH since it goes from wide mm to short zoom mm, right through the standard mm mm, mm equivalent. So once you buy this, then you will say I need that mm to complete the set since x zoom, for either of these lenses, really isnt much. You are trading off large zoom capability for lens quality and being f. st low light. Then your next lens will be wow, even wider would be nice, the olympus mm F. which ive also bought. If you want a longer zoom, but higher f, consider the x. Ive bought that too as a travel allinone lens.

Four aspherical elements, one ultra extralow dispersion element, and one ultra high refractive index element all contribute to minimizing chromatic and spherical aberrations and various aberrations in order to produce a high degree of clarity, sharpness, and accuracy.

It is so amazing working with the gh. While recording handheld, my friend sneezed and his hand moved as you obviously do, I have reviewed the clip and there was no movement recorded.. The silization for me is mind blowing with the gh. I am so pleased with the acquisition!
